Job summary

Worley Group, Inc. in California seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead Materials Handling Engineering projects from Monrovia or Long Beach.

You will direct multi-disciplinary teams, oversee scope, schedules, and budgets, and deliver safe, high‑quality outcomes for petroleum/chemical and mining environments. The role requires deep experience in mechanical and rotating equipment, strong communication skills, and mentoring of junior engineers while coordinating with clients and overseas

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years in Materials Handling Engineering within Petroleum-Chemical or Mining industries.
• At least 5 years in other mechanical equipment or packaged equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Experience with reciprocating compressor systems; familiarity with API 617, 614, 670 and 671.

Responsibilities

• Lead project execution and discipline deliverables within the team.
• Update schedules, progress reports, and generate budgets as needed.
• Interface regularly with Project Management and customers.
• Develop/check specifications, data sheets, bids, purchase orders; resolve vendor queries for compressor and pump equipment.
• Maintain quality deliverables during equipment procurement and support overseas work-share on rotating equipment.
• Develop/support hour estimates, TIC estimates, and personnel loading for rotating engineering.
• Provide backup for Mechanical lead when requested.
