Job summary

Skyworks is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design and development of high-power microwave and millimeter-wave amplifiers, LRUs, and related subsystems. You will collaborate across disciplines to ensure performance, reliability and manufacturability in rugged environments.

The role emphasizes thermal management, materials selection, and detailed analysis, requiring extensive experience and a strong data-packaging background.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 10 years experience in mechanical design of ruggedized electronics
• Demonstrated expertise in FEA-based thermal and structural analysis of electronics and enclosures
• Strong background in technical data package development including BOM creation, 2D drawings, and 3D modeling
• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-team collaboration
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Partner with SSPA engineering, program leadership, production and quality to drive outcomes
• Design high-performance electronics and RF systems, including enclosures, subassemblies, harnesses and cables
• Develop thermal management solutions for high-power electronics (liquid cooling and air cooling)
• Select materials, components and manufacturing processes to meet objectives
• Identify and mitigate risks through rigorous analysis and verification testing
• Perform detailed thermal analysis and structural FEA (shock, vibration, acceleration)

Education

Bachelor of Science or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
