Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. in Texas seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design of high-power microwave and millimeter-wave amplifiers, subsystems, and LRUs, driving performance, reliability, and manufacturability across complex products.

You will collaborate with SSPA engineering, production, and quality teams; develop rugged enclosures, thermal solutions, and BOMs; and validate designs through FEA and 3D modeling in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical design of ruggedized electronics.
• Expertise in FEA-based thermal and structural analysis of electronics and enclosures.
• Background in technical data package development: BOM, 2D drawings, 3D modeling.
• Working knowledge of GD&T.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-team collaboration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with SolidWorks, Flotherm CFD and Ansys Structures FEA.
• Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DO-160.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and programs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with SSPA engineering, leadership, production and quality teams to drive outcomes.
• Design high-performance electronics and RF systems with rugged enclosures and cables.
• Develop thermal management using liquid cold plates and air-cooling strategies.
• Select materials, components, and processes to meet size, weight, cost and schedule goals.
• Identify and mitigate risks with rigorous analysis and verification testing.
• Perform detailed thermal analysis and FEA of dies, channels, and structures.
