Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Rolling Meadows, IL to support development and testing of ruggedized military electronics. The role involves cross-disciplinary collaboration with hardware engineers, program management, and customers to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to cost and performance targets.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical/aerospace background, strong CAD skills (NX preferred), and leadership experience across product development stages, from requirements

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years experience in electronics packaging, or M.S. with 3+ years.
• Experience with hardware development and electro-mechanical packaging including thermal or structural analysis, microelectronics design, or opto-mechanical design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Siemens NX preferred) and product data management tools.
• Demonstrated leadership of small to mid-size engineering teams during development.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams in development, build, and test of ruggedized military electronic equipment.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, analysts, program management, and customers/stakeholders.
• Manage project schedules and budgets; identify and communicate risks affecting goals.
• Apply innovative solutions to meet performance, cost, and schedule constraints.
• Share knowledge through coaching, training, and process improvements.
