Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal or Sr Principal Mechanical Design Engineer (Level 3 or Level 4) to join our Edwards AFB, CA team with required on-site coverage at Palmdale.

The role emphasizes testing, with responsibilities spanning research, design, analysis, manufacture and verification of aircraft support equipment, plus a flexible work schedule to cover multiple shifts and locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in STEM with 5+ years of engineering experience or Master's with 3+ years.
• Experience using CAD software to generate detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Active US Government Secret clearance (or ability to obtain) and SAP clearance capability.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and conduct test operations of manufactured Support Equipment.
• Align test targets with flight test org, NGAS test team, RE, and customer reps.
• Provide engineering assessments and test results for support equipment management.
• Mechanical design of test, measurement, and handling equipment for military aircraft.
• Gather data, develop requirements, interface with suppliers, and perform basic stress analysis.
• Manufacturing liaison to ensure quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Develop test plans and perform environmental testing of equipment.
