Job summary

Northrop Grumman Edwards AFB, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Level 2/3) to join a team focused on testing and design of aircraft Support Equipment. The role requires flexibility for testing shifts and travel to Palmdale as needed.

Responsibilities include test operations, design of test equipment, data gathering, and collaboration with the flight test organization and customers. Secret clearance is required; SAP clearance ability is needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in STEM from an accredited university with 2 years relevant engineering experience, or Master's in STEM with 0 years.
• Experience using CAD software for detailed engineering drawings.
• Active US Government Secret clearance (or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and conduct test operations of manufactured equipment on and off aircraft.
• Align test targets with flight test organization, NGAS test team, RE, and on-site customer representatives.
• Provide engineering assessments and test results to support equipment management.
• Mechanical design of test, measurement, and handling equipment for military aircraft.
• Gather data, requirement development, and basic stress and tolerance analysis.
• Act as manufacturing liaison during build to ensure quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Develop test plans and perform environmental testing of Support Equipment.
• Basic knowledge of design and analysis tools and drafting skills (NX, Pro Engineer, Catia).
