Job summary
Sierra Space is seeking a Principal Material Science Engineer to lead development and application of advanced materials for propulsion systems. You will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver innovative solutions and rigorous analyses.
You will contribute to strategic programs, develop detailed technical data and presentations, and represent the company in high-level reviews, contracts, and discussions with suppliers and partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Typically 12+ years of related experience.
- Advanced knowledge in material sciences with ability to apply complex principles.
- Ability to work under consultative direction toward long-range goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead development, analysis, and application of materials for propulsion systems and thrusters.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
- Represent the organization in high-level meetings, contracts, and strategic discussions with suppliers and partners.
- Contribute to the advancement of material sciences through reviews, strategy sessions, and innovation initiatives.
