Job summary

Sierra Space is seeking a Principal Material Science Engineer to lead advanced projects in aerospace material science. You will develop and apply materials for propulsion systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure engineering excellence and strategic alignment.

You will represent the organization in high-level meetings, drive technical reviews, and contribute to innovation initiatives while advancing material science capabilities.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Typically 12+ years of related experience.
• Advanced knowledge in material sciences.
• Ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
• Ability to contribute to development of new principles and concepts.
• Ability to solve unusually complex technical problems with ingenuity.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, analysis, and application of materials for propulsion systems and thrusters.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to other engineers.
