Job summary

Sierra Space in Colorado is looking for a Senior Material Planner who can drive material planning for complex programs, optimizing procurement, inventory, and schedules across cross-functional teams.

You will leverage ERP, MRP, Excel, and SQL to analyze usage, lead times, and supplier performance while mentoring junior planners and leading process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field.
  • Typically 8+ years of related experience.
  • Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing and implementing demand scheduling tools.
  • Highly skilled with ERP, MRP, Excel, SQL.
  • Material Planning experience in manufacturing (Aerospace/Automotive).

About the Role

This role is designed for professionals with extensive experience in Material Planning and that can solve complex problems and lead process development / system enhancement projects. Senior Material Planners act with high levels of agency and urgency and are always looking for opportunities to automate and optimize processes and data flows. You will be integrated with a cross functional team and are responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely procurement of materials to support production schedules, while optimizing inventory levels and minimizing costs. You will typically be responsible for material planning our most challenging programs as well as mentoring junior members of the team. Senior Material Planners should be extremely familiar with engineering, procurement, and production workflows as well as the end-to-end IT Architecture that supports those processes. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and engineering, to align material planning with production schedules and project requirements. You will identify and lead projects to enhance systems and processes, while utilizing ERP, MRP, Excel, and SQL to manage and analyze material requirements, inventory levels, and procurement activities. Additionally, you will monitor and analyze material usage, lead times, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction. You will coordinate with procurement to ensure the timely delivery of materials and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing. Furthermore, you will prepare and present reports on material planning and inventory performance to management, support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material planning processes and systems, and mentor and provide guidance to junior material planners and other team members.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +6 yrs experience).
  • Typically 8+ years of related experience.
  • Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing and implementing demand scheduling tools.
  • Highly skilled with ERP, MRP, Excel, SQL.
  • Material Planning experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably Aerospace or Automotive.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: Advanced certifications in supply chain management or material planning (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP).
  • Advanced degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, or CIS.
  • Significant SAP experience.
  • Experience using Python, R, PowerBI, Tableau.
Compensation

Pay Range: $110,157.00 - $151,465.50 Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
