Job summary

Sierra Space seeks a Principal Material Science Engineer to lead propulsion materials programs, applying advanced principles to develop innovative solutions and rigorous analyses. You will own critical technical work, mentor engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to integrate material solutions into programs.

You will drive technical reviews, strategic initiatives, and communicate findings to stakeholders while adhering to aerospace standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of related experience is typical.
  • Advanced knowledge in material sciences.
  • Ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Capability to contribute to development of new principles and concepts.
  • Ability to provide solutions to unusually complex technical problems.
  • Ability to work under consultative direction toward long-range goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, analysis, and application of materials used in propulsion systems and thrusters.
  • Provide innovative solutions and rigorous analyses for complex technical challenges.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to other engineers and lead technical reviews.
