Job summary

Nikon SLM Solutions is seeking a Principal Application Engineer to lead complex L‑PBF additive manufacturing projects and drive manufacturing feasibility for high‑regulation industries. You will bridge Applications and Materials teams, guide design reviews, and optimize processes from DfAM through qualification.

You will partner with Materials, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Development to ensure performance and compliance, while mentoring engineers and advancing best practices across the

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in a technical field (mechanical or materials science).
• Extensive hands‑on experience with L-PBF metal AM.
• Experience with regulated industries (aerospace/defense/medical).
• Strong understanding of process–structure–property relationships.

Responsibilities

• Translate material behavior and testing results into actionable recommendations.
• Lead design reviews, FATs, and manufacturability assessments.
• Support material selection, parameter development, and qualification.
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge across teams.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems and regulatory requirements.
