Job summary

Nikon SLM Solutions is seeking a Material Parameter Development Engineer to develop, test and optimize SLM parameters for metal powders and various layer thicknesses. You will review market requirements, define qualification processes and lead projects with customers and external partners.

You will collaborate across teams to achieve material performance, process stability and productivity while conducting deep analyses and reporting results to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering or Physics with LPBF focus.
• Experience with CAM tools such as Magics, Build Processor, Netfabb, NX.
• Strong background in material science and research.
• Knowledge of welding technology and material characterization.
• Proven analytical skills and data-driven decision making.
• Experience in metal additive manufacturing process development.
• Ability to operate SLM systems and understand laser-powder interaction.
• Experience in laboratory material characterization environments.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal/external customers and teams on material science and parameter development.
• Develop parameter sets for new/existing materials for SLM, focusing on performance and stability.
• Characterize materials (mechanical properties, density, microstructure) using advanced techniques.
• Prepare deep experimental reports and external white papers or conference presentations.
• Perform deep statistical analyses of material properties to ensure confidence.
• Analyze machine/process capabilities across the full build envelope.
