Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures to lead the evolution of our managed Kubernetes services.

You will drive scale, performance, and security across our public cloud offerings. You will provide cross-team architectural oversight, mentor engineers, and partner with leadership to integrate cloud-native technologies across product teams, enabling simple-to-use managed services for customers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Proven track record building and scaling managed services and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Expert knowledge of container runtimes like Docker and orchestration systems.
• Strong coding in Go, Python, or Bash.
• Ability to drive architectural alignment and technical excellence across teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide cross-team architectural oversight and strategic guidance to ensure cloud-native efforts are cohesively implemented across all product development teams.
• Act as a unifying technical authority for cloud-native initiatives, ensuring architectural alignment, standardization, and technical excellence organization-wide.
• Partner with cross-functional leadership to integrate diverse cloud-native technologies, bridging gaps between product teams and core platform infrastructure.
• Facilitate a unified technical strategy that enables teams to deploy and operate cloud-native services efficiently across products.
• Mentor engineering teams across the organization to foster innovation, collaboration, and shared technical standards.
