Job summary

At Akamai Technologies, Inc., the Compute division seeks a Principal Software Engineer with deep Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture expertise to lead the evolution of our managed services.

You will mentor teams, provide architectural oversight across product development, and partner with leaders to scale and secure our Kubernetes platforms while integrating open-source technologies for simple-to-use managed services.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in software engineering.
• Experience building and scaling managed services and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Expert knowledge of container runtimes and orchestrators.
• Masters of Go, Python, or Bash is a plus (proficiency in at least two).
• Champion for sustaining an exceptional work environment and diverse opinions in technical debates.

Responsibilities

• Provide cross-team architectural oversight and strategic guidance for cloud-native efforts across product teams.
• Act as a unifying technical authority for cloud-native initiatives and standardization.
• Partner with cross-functional leadership to integrate diverse cloud-native technologies.
• Facilitate a unified technical strategy to deploy and operate cloud-native services efficiently.
• Mentor engineering teams and promote innovation and collaboration.
