Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead our managed Kubernetes and cloud-native platforms. You will shape architecture across product teams, drive scalability, security, and performance, and mentor engineers to uphold technical excellence.

You will partner with leadership to align cloud-native strategies across the platform and contribute to integrating open-source technologies into simple, reliable services for customers in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience building and scaling managed services and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Expert knowledge of container runtimes and orchestrators.
• Mastery in Go, Python, or Bash.
• Champion for sustaining an exceptional work environment and diverse opinions in technical debates.

Responsibilities

• Provide cross-team architectural oversight and strategic guidance for cloud-native efforts across product teams.
• Act as a unifying technical authority for cloud-native initiatives and ensure alignment and technical excellence.
• Partner with cross-functional leadership to integrate diverse cloud-native technologies across teams and infrastructure.
• Facilitate a unified technical strategy enabling teams to deploy and operate cloud-native services efficiently.
• Mentor engineering teams and promote innovation, collaboration, and shared standards.
