Honeywell Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Principal Hardware Engineer to lead, design and develop high-reliability avionics hardware for HUD systems. You will collaborate with software, systems, and QA teams to drive hardware from concept to certification and production, while mentoring junior engineers.

The role emphasizes mentorship, design reviews, and adherence to DO-254-style processes, with cross-functional responsibility and ongoing technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience developing avionics hardware across the full product lifecycle from requirements through certification, production and sustainment.
• Strong knowledge of safety-critical airborne hardware development processes and requirements-driven design methodologies.
• Proficiency with electronic design automation, simulation, and laboratory test equipment.
• Prior technical leadership experience including design reviews, mentoring, and customer engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of advanced circuit design from concept through production.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define hardware requirements and ensure seamless integration with software and systems engineering.
• Perform requirements development, circuit design, schematic capture, PCB design support, and hardware validation to ensure performance, reliability and compliance.
• Conduct troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis during development and qualification phases.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Interface with internal and external stakeholders to ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements.
• Stay current with emerging hardware technologies and aerospace industry trends to drive innovation in product designs.
