Job summary

Inovalon, Inc. seeks a Principal Health Data Scientist to lead data science in HEOR/RWE research within the Insights team. You will execute studies from protocol review to cohort building, analysis, and insight generation using claims and EHR data.

You will mentor teams, collaborate across departments, and ensure data quality, security, and regulatory compliance while delivering actionable results for clients.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical industries with administrative claims data and big data.
• Excellent SQL programming skills including Snowflake; working knowledge of SAS, R, and/or MatLab.
• Strong problem solving, analytical reasoning and decision-making skills.
• Experience researching and resolving data issues with large, complex sources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead programming, analytics and statistics for health services research and business analyses.
• Develop data solutions for strategic business problems using advanced modeling.
• Use SQL for advanced data extraction and manage code libraries for reuse.
• Formulate hypotheses, test them, and communicate findings to clients.
• Handle complex data requests and create ad-hoc queries for research projects.
• Provide QA and mentoring across project teams and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Coordinate with Enterprise Data Management and other teams to resolve data issues.
• Troubleshoot production-related issues and evaluate data analytic tools.
