Job summary

Procore Technologies is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Directory team in Austin. This role focuses on building foundational, scalable infrastructure for accounts, companies, and people across Procore’s workspace.

You’ll drive the technical direction for the Directory domain across Go-based backend and React/TypeScript frontend, collaborating with Product, Security, and platform teams to translate identity and organizational needs into resilient systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience architecting distributed backend systems.
• Experience with CQRS and/or Event Sourcing patterns.
• Proficiency in Go; frontend experience with TypeScript/React.
• Experience with Kafka and data streaming.
• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy for the Directory domain across backend and frontend services.
• Guide the Ruby-to-Go migration and CDC pipeline to sync with the legacy monolith.
• Lead GraphQL API design and evolution within a federated gateway architecture.
• Champion event-driven architecture with Kafka-based streaming for reliability and observability.
• Establish operational excellence with automated tests, observability, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, and Product leadership across domains.
• Support maintenance of existing Ruby on Rails and NestJS services.
