Job summary

Riot Games in Los Angeles seeks a Principal Software Engineer and technical lead to own multiple key areas. You will drive technical vision for gameplay features and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to build systems that bring players’ dreams to life.

In this role you’ll mentor engineers, lead technical designs, and deliver tooling that expands game design space across environments, physics, audio, and navigation. A passion for player-centric engineering is essential.

Qualifications

• 8–12 yrs of experience in game development.
• Experience shipping games across multiple platforms.
• Experience building gameplay systems with designers.
• Expert with C++ in complex codebases.
• Experience mentoring fellow developers.
• Experience leading technical designs and decisions.
• Experience building game content tools and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with external teams to shape player experiences.
• Provide feedback on technical tradeoffs for tooling.
• Advise product leaders on direction and benefits for creatives.
• Brainstorm, design, and prototype to answer key questions.
• Lead delivery of game content tooling for external teams.
• Mentor engineering teammates and teammates alike.
• Deliver improvements to gameplay tools expanding design space.
• Build projects implementing complex system changes.
