Job summary

Riot Games in Los Angeles (and Mercer Island) seeks an Engineering Manager to guide a 4-8 person team of engineers across experience levels. You’ll coach, provide feedback, grow their technical skills, and ensure high-quality code and strong engineering practices.

You’ll define a technical vision with design, production, and game leadership partners, advocate for players, collaborate with teams on AI/ML, contribute code, and embody Riot values while resolving conflicts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Software Engineer experience.
• 2+ years leading an engineering team of at least 4.
• 2+ years developing in Unreal, Unity, or another game engine.
• 2+ years working with game AI technologies or ML techs.
• Experience with C++ in professional settings.
• Experience in complex, large-scale game/engine codebases.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Manage a group of 4-8 engineers across experience levels and provide regular feedback and performance management.
• Develop and communicate the technical vision for your team with design, production, and game leadership partners.
• Advocate for players and internal development customers in deciding what to build and why; coordinate with Riot teams on AI/ML.
• Contribute to code, review designs, and uphold high engineering standards and architectural rigor.
• Foster a collaborative, challenging environment; surface issues and celebrate wins.
• Model Riot values and resolve conflicts; adapt to emergent issues.
• Perform other reasonable activities as required by management.
