Job summary

Renesas Electronics is seeking a Principal Router Architect with 10 to 15 years to define the backbone of Zonal and Central Compute Automotive architectures, focusing on Ethernet Routing Engines and PCIe subsystems for AD and cockpit controllers.

The ideal candidate bridges high-speed data center throughput with ISO 26262 safety and deterministic networking requirements, leading advanced SoC integrations and hardware architectures across TSN, SR-IOV, and secure on-board communications.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (PhD desirable).
• 12+ years in high-speed networking or SoC architecture, with at least 5 years focused on automotive-grade silicon.
• Deep expertise in IEEE 802.1 TSN protocols and hardware implementation.
• Expert knowledge of PCIe (Root Complex/Endpoint) and Automotive Ethernet (10BASE-T1S to 10G+).
• Familiarity with ISO 26262 functional safety flows and AEC-Q100 reliability requirements.
• Experience integrating routing engines into complex SoCs using AXI/CHI bus protocols and managing IOMMU configurations.

Responsibilities

• Architect L2/L3 switch fabrics supporting TSN standards for deterministic latency.
• Define PCIe Gen5/6 integration for chip-to-chip connectivity with SR-IOV and VMs.
• Integrate safety mechanisms to meet ASIL-B/D requirements within routing fabrics.
• Design interface between Ethernet/PCIe controllers and NoC/CHI fabrics for ADAS sensors.
• Architect hardware-assisted isolation and SecOC for secure vehicle networking.
• Define clock, reset and power management for automotive thermal profiles and fast boot.
