Job summary

PG&E seeks a high-impact FinOps Solutions Architect, Principal to drive cost control and token management for AI workloads. The role blends architecture, governance, and hands-on automation to optimize cloud spend across AWS and Azure in a hybrid Bay Area setting.

The position requires deep FinOps expertise, cloud cost governance, and leadership to guide engineers, product, and finance through complex cost models and KPI-driven optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering field or equivalent.
• Cloud certification such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Solutions Architect Associate.
• 10 years IT experience including cloud FinOps or data engineering, with at least 2 years on AI/ML workloads and LLM infra.
• 7 years architecture or software development experience.
• 3 years of cloud architecture experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and scale frameworks and data pipelines to control AI costs and token usage.
• Design complex cloud-native solutions using best practices and industry standards.
• Standardize consumption across AWS Bedrock/SageMaker and Azure OpenAI/Azure AI Studio.
• Implement real-time guardrails like rate limiting and token throttling across multi-cloud.
• Define AI-specific unit metrics to measure ROI and cost effectiveness.
• Lead cost/benefit modelling and educate teams on FinOps best practices.
• Coach Cloud Center of Excellence and accelerate cloud learning.
• Ensure FinOps considerations are embedded in development lifecycles and governance.
