Job summary

lululemon Athletica is seeking a Principal Engineer, Retail Systems to define the technical vision for global store, guest, educator, and omni‑channel experiences. You will lead architecture decisions, partner with product, security, and operations teams, and drive AI‑enabled development across the retail platform.

You will combine hands‑on engineering with broad technical leadership to raise reliability, observability, and delivery velocity while shaping a durable roadmap for lululemon’s retail

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 11+ years of software engineering experience with large-scale systems.
• Expert-level coding across multiple languages/ platforms.
• Experience with AI-assisted development and agentic software engineering.
• Ability to influence strategy and communicate with executives.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision, system design, and implementation approach for major retail systems initiatives across global store, guest, educator, and omni-channel experiences.
• Serve as a senior technical authority across complex retail platforms (POS, mobile commerce, enterprise payments, RFID, inventory, data, AI-capable).
• Write high-quality production code for complex challenges, including AI-enabled tooling and agentic development patterns.
• Partner with architects, product leaders, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to translate strategy into scalable architecture and roadmaps.
• Lead cross-team integrations across retail platforms and shared services.
• Raise engineering standards across teams for code quality, reliability, observability, and deployment readiness.
• Identify and mitigate systemic technical risks and debt impacting store operations and guest experience.
