Job summary

Vytalize Health is seeking a Principal Engineer to design, build, and operate CDS Hooks and API-driven data delivery platforms. You will collaborate with Data Engineering, Product, Clinical Operations, and EMR partners to embed clinical insights directly into provider workflows, ensuring reliable, secure access to data at the point of care.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, building, and operating API platforms or backend infra at scale.
• 3+ years healthcare data integrations or interoperability standards (FHIR/HL7).
• 2+ years hands-on CDS Hooks or SMART on FHIR APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of the CDS Hooks platform and card orchestration.
• Own CDS Hook API contracts and evolution per SMART CDS Hooks spec.
• Design and maintain REST and event-driven APIs exposing clinical data and decision content.
• Establish API contracts, versioning, and deprecation policies for external consumers.
• Implement security patterns including OAuth 2.0, access controls, and audit logging.
• Build reliable data pipelines with low latency and high freshness.
• Mentor team members and drive architectural guidance for clinical data integration.
