Qualifications

This role focuses on cryptographic software code bases for mission‑enabling solutions across land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace. The Senior Embedded Engineer is based out of San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

In this role you will design, develop, integrate, and test software, primarily focused on cryptographic code bases. You will design, architect, develop, and administer embedded and real‑time systems and work with multidisciplinary teams in an Agile environment to resolve system‑level problems related to program intent, data acquisition, and control logic.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or another STEM discipline with 5 years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year.
• Proficient in C/C++ and Object‑Oriented programming.
• Proficient in all areas of the formal software lifecycle process from requirements to testing.
• Experience integrating low‑level firmware and software in complex real‑time, multi‑threaded embedded applications.
• Experience developing and debugging embedded real‑time systems.
• Familiarity with Static Analysis and Unit Testing.
• Experience using Jira/Bitbucket/Git in an Agile process.
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret level security clearance.
• Ability to work full‑time onsite at the Rancho Carmel location.

Preferred Qualifications

• Testing and troubleshooting Link16 waveform in an embedded software environment.
• Hands‑on experience with lab equipment such as Tactical Data Link radios/terminals.
• Familiarity with Link16/TACAN Waveform ICD.
• Experience with Software Defined Radios, Avionics Operating System, and Xilinx platforms (Zynq, Ultrascale+, VERSAL).
• Experience with Yocto/Petalinux and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, Ethernet).
• Experience with TCP/IP and common network configurations.
• Implementation of cryptographic mechanisms using dedicated software libraries.
• Experience with Rust and with Xilinx tools (Vitis, Vivado).
• Knowledge of HAIPE, OTNK, and/or IKE and NSA security standards.
• Linux kernel driver development or modifications.
• Assembly language and bare‑metal embedded device driver experience.
• PowerPC architectures and peripherals familiarity.
• VHDL/Verilog/FPGA expertise.
• IBM tools (Rhapsody, DOORS, ClearCase) familiarity.
• Green Hills AdaMulti experience.
• Current active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
• Current active SAP clearance.
• Engaged in Networked Information Solutions program portfolio(s).

Salary and Benefits

Primary level salary range: $114,000 to $171,000 per year, with potential for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and for certain roles, long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation and personal business.
