Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team on site in San Diego, CA. The role requires a self‑starter familiar with Integrated Product Team construct.
Responsibilities
- Work in a fast‑paced environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.
- Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to customers.
- Operate in an embedded technology development environment using real‑time operating systems for flight and mission‑critical systems.
- Develop software products in Agile Scrum teams for multiple baselines.
- Design, develop, integrate, and test software for end‑user customers and businesses.
- Design, architect, develop, and administer embedded and real‑time systems.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams such as Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps, and Systems Test in an Agile software development environment.
- Analyze system capabilities to resolve problems related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and at least 2 years of related engineering experience, or a Master’s degree with no prior experience.
- Experience with C, C++, and/or Python programming and scripting.
- Experience with Agile software development, embedded system programming, integration, and testing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance (background investigation within the past 5 years or ongoing Continuous Evaluation).
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR) before employment and within a reasonable timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to identify and debug performance or timing issues on target systems.
- Current applicable SAP clearance.
- Active DoD Top Secret SCI clearance (background investigation within the past 5 years or ongoing Continuous Evaluation).
- Recent experience and proficiency in software architecture, design, implementation, integration, and debugging C++ software.
- Experience developing multi‑threaded software for flight critical, safety critical, medical, or mission critical applications.
- Familiarity with at least two data interfaces: 1553, 422, 429, Serial, Discrete, Ethernet/IP, or Fiber Channel.
- Recent experience with software architecture, design, implementation, integration, Docker containers, and RHEL 8.10 or later.
- Ability to identify moderate execution defects by reading code.
- Understanding of how the embedded software component fits into a larger system architecture.
- Capability to document, capture, and present software architectural components using modeling or diagramming tools.
- Strong understanding of SW hardware interfaces and their architectural context.
Compensation
Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
