Job Overview
As a Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will be part of an Enterprise-wide digital transformation effort that leverages Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices to deliver critical national defense products and capabilities.
You will work with a team of software professionals to develop world‑class software that meets customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and support teams to design, develop, operate, and maintain software and firmware components and computing systems software.
- Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle – from requirements and design to coding, testing, integration, and sustainment.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, application users, and other technical personnel to support the generation of engineering applications and products.
- Design and build embedded software that runs on Linux or VxWorks operating systems.
- Use version control systems (Git, Gitlab, GitHub, Bitbucket, ClearCase, etc.) and Agile planning tools (Rally, JIRA, etc.) to manage development.
- Debug, test, and integrate embedded software on target hardware, including complex systems that utilize parallel processing, multi‑threading, distributed processing, and secure processing.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline with a minimum of 2+ years of engineering experience, or a Master’s degree in a related discipline.
- Object‑Oriented Programming in C++.
- Familiarity with software architecture (design patterns, object‑oriented design).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, Batch, etc.).
- Experience developing embedded software on Linux or VxWorks.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies and frameworks such as Waterfall or Agile.
- Experience with version control systems (Git, Gitlab, GitHub, Bitbucket, ClearCase, etc.) and Agile software planning tools (Rally, JIRA, etc.).
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with C++11.
- Advanced knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash, Batch, etc.).
- Experience testing, debugging, and integrating embedded software on target hardware.
- Experience with complex systems of systems that utilize parallel processing, multi‑threading, distributed processing, multi‑core, system‑on‑chip, and secure processing.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal communication skills.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $87,600.00 – $131,400.00 (adjusted for role scope, experience, and market conditions).
- Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses.
