Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking a Principal DevSecOps Engineer to lead platform engineering initiatives for a major financial services client. You will drive CI/CD automation, OpenShift deployment patterns, and release governance, turning reference architectures into reusable assets and scalable templates.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in software engineering, deep Python, cloud-native architectures, and hands-on leadership in DevSecOps, OpenShift, GitHub Actions, and enterprise security controls.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python and demonstrated ability to lead complex engineering initiatives.
  • 10+ years of building web applications and APIs using Django, FastAPI, Flask.
  • 8+ years designing and implementing CI/CD automation and DevOps practices, including GitHub Actions and reusable workflow development.
  • Hands-on experience integrating security and quality scanning into CI/CD pipelines with enforceable policy gates.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud-native platforms and container orchestration (OpenShift/Kubernetes) including deployment automation.
  • Experience building or operating deployment automation to OpenShift using Harness CD (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of DevSecOps or application security engineering experience, including compliance automation and vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reference implementations for APIs, Web Applications, Data Pipelines, CMS Platforms, and Enterprise Integration Patterns.
  • Create reusable engineering assets including starter repositories, workflow templates, deployment blueprints, and shared libraries.
  • Develop architectural decision records (ADRs), standards, and engineering guidance.
  • Engineer reusable GitHub Actions workflows and automation libraries.
  • Build release-ready delivery patterns aligned with enterprise controls.
  • Create onboarding frameworks to accelerate adoption of release management initiatives.
  • Design automated release governance and compliance controls.
  • Improve release traceability, packaging, and deployment workflows.
  • Implement security scanning automation including SonarQube, Checkmarx, Black Duck, GitHub Secret Scanning, and DAST Platforms.
  • Design policy-based quality and security gates.
  • Develop supply chain security controls.
  • Automate vulnerability management and remediation workflows.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps delivery models.
  • Design and maintain Harness CD deployment modules.
  • Implement deployment automation for OpenShift environments.
  • Support progressive deployments, rollbacks, promotion workflows, and deployment governance.
  • Partner with Platform Engineering and Security teams on resiliency and reliability requirements.
  • Mentor Lead and Senior Engineers.
  • Lead architecture reviews and design sessions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend platform improvements.
  • Drive enterprise engineering standardization efforts.
  • Participate in architecture boards and enterprise working groups.

Job Summary

In this contingent resource assignment, you will consult as a technical expert on highly complex engineering initiatives within a major financial services organization's Chief Data Office (CDO). As a Principal Engineer, you will transform reference architectures into reusable, production-ready engineering assets and enable enterprise-scale delivery through CI/CD automation, DevSecOps practices, OpenShift deployment patterns, and release governance automation. This role is a key contributor to a major release management initiative, driving enterprise adoption through reusable templates, GitHub Actions workflows, security controls, deployment automation, and developer enablement programs. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with deep expertise in Python, cloud-native technologies, DevSecOps automation, OpenShift, GitHub Actions, and enterprise-scale platform engineering.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Reference Architecture & Platform Engineering
  • Develop and maintain reference implementations for APIs, Web Applications, Data Pipelines, CMS Platforms, and Enterprise Integration Patterns.
  • Create reusable engineering assets including starter repositories, workflow templates, deployment blueprints, and shared libraries.
  • Develop architectural decision records (ADRs), standards, and engineering guidance.
CI/CD & Release Engineering
  • Engineer reusable GitHub Actions workflows and automation libraries.
  • Build release-ready delivery patterns aligned with enterprise controls.
  • Create onboarding frameworks to accelerate adoption of release management initiatives.
  • Design automated release governance and compliance controls.
  • Improve release traceability, packaging, and deployment workflows.
DevSecOps & Compliance Automation
  • Implement security scanning automation including SonarQube, Checkmarx, Black Duck, GitHub Secret Scanning, and DAST Platforms.
  • Design policy-based quality and security gates.
  • Develop supply chain security controls.
  • Automate vulnerability management and remediation workflows.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps delivery models.
OpenShift Delivery Enablement
  • Design and maintain Harness CD deployment modules.
  • Implement deployment automation for OpenShift environments.

  • Partner with Platform Engineering and Security teams on resiliency and reliability requirements.
Technical Leadership

  • 5+ years of experience with cloud-native platforms and container orchestration (OpenShift/Kubernetes) including deployment automation.
  • Experience building or operating deployment automation to OpenShift using Harness CD (or equivalent), including promotion, approvals, and rollback strategies.
  • 5+ years of DevSecOps or application security engineering experience, including compliance automation and vulnerability management.
  • Proven ability to create reusable enterprise engineering standards, frameworks, and automation solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Open-source contributions (Conda-Forge, Pixi Package Manager, GitHub Actions ecosystems).
  • Experience developing and maintaining Django-based platforms at enterprise scale; familiarity with Wagtail CMS.
  • Experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes platform engineering and operational patterns.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices (Terraform, Ansible, ArgoCD) and policy-as-code approaches.
  • Experience with SRE practices, observability platforms, and incident management workflows.
