Job summary

FIS is seeking a Principal Engineer to shape the messaging platform used across email, push, and SMS. You will define architecture, governance, and delivery strategies to ensure compliant, reliable communications for financial services brands.

You will lead technical direction, collaborate with product and design, and partner with security and platform teams to enable multi-brand messaging at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting production-grade messaging platforms at scale.
• Hands-on with email delivery, push (APNs/FCM) and SMS.
• Knowledge of SPF/DKIM/DMARC and SMS compliance, including 10DLC.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical direction.
• Strong backend/frontend skills, including TypeScript and API design.
• Proven technical leadership across architecture and cross-team delivery.
• Experience with AI coding tools and their impact on engineering.
• Degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Define the architecture and technical strategy for customer messaging across channels.
• Build shared services for templating, theming, personalization and orchestration.
• Own deliverability and reliability: email authentication, push delivery, SMS compliance.
• Lead decisions on messaging vendors and infrastructure tradeoffs.
• Build consent and opt-out management meeting regulatory requirements.
• Make delivery and engagement metrics visible to stakeholders.
• Partner with business, product and security teams to align platform capabilities.
• Enable AI-assisted workflows to compose and send messages safely.
