This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Engineer – Civil based in the United States.

As a Principal Engineer – Civil, you will provide strategic and technical leadership for civil engineering projects that support the development of renewable energy infrastructure.

You will oversee the design and delivery of complex engineering solutions, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control.

Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will collaborate with hydrology, geotechnical, and structural specialists to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant project designs.

You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, guiding projects from early engineering and permitting through construction support.

In addition to hands-on engineering work, you will mentor engineers and designers, review technical deliverables, and establish high standards for quality and performance.

This opportunity offers the chance to influence engineering strategy, contribute to innovative solar, wind, and battery storage projects, and make a meaningful impact on the future of sustainable infrastructure.

You will thrive in a collaborative, fast-growing environment that values technical excellence, innovation, autonomy, and data-driven decision-making.

Accountabilities
  • Civil Engineering Design: Lead the development of civil engineering designs for renewable energy and infrastructure projects, including site grading, drainage systems, erosion and sedimentation control, stormwater management, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) calculations and reports.
  • Technical Project Leadership: Serve as the civil engineering lead on multidisciplinary projects, coordinating with hydrology, geotechnical, structural, and other engineering teams to ensure cohesive and effective design solutions.
  • Client Engagement: Work directly with clients to understand project requirements, communicate technical recommendations, resolve engineering challenges, and maintain strong professional relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engineering Solutions and Compliance: Develop practical, technically sound solutions that address project-specific constraints, permitting requirements, regulatory standards, and environmental compliance obligations.
  • Quality Assurance and Technical Review: Review and supervise engineering calculations, construction drawings, technical reports, and other deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable engineering standards before approving and sealing documents as authorized.
  • Civil 3D Technical Leadership: Guide engineers and designers in using Autodesk Civil 3D to develop alignments, profiles, grading features, and construction plans that meet project specifications and quality expectations.
  • Team Coordination and Mentorship: Assign tasks to junior engineers and designers, oversee their work, provide technical guidance, and support their professional development while maintaining project schedules and deliverable quality.
  • Construction Support: Provide engineering assistance during construction, address technical questions, evaluate field-related challenges, and help ensure that constructed work aligns with approved design documents.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote innovative engineering practices, efficient design workflows, and consistent technical standards across projects, contributing to the continued development of the civil engineering practice.
  • Strategic Contribution: Help shape long-term engineering capabilities and delivery approaches that support the expansion of renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure projects.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with the ability to take responsibility for engineering designs and seal construction drawings and reports where authorized.
