We are seeking a skilled Civil Design Engineer to join a fast-growing team focused on utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. In this role, you will design, optimize, and review civil, grading, drainage, and stormwater solutions across the full project lifecycle—from initial site assessment to construction support. This is a hands‑on position that requires strong engineering fundamentals, practical problem‑solving, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop site layouts, grading plans, access roads, drainage systems, and stormwater management designs for large‑scale solar and energy storage projects.
- Prepare civil engineering calculations including cut/fill analysis, hydrology, erosion control, and stormwater modeling.
- Support permitting efforts with technical documents, maps, and engineering inputs for regulatory approvals.
- Collaborate with electrical engineering, development, land, and construction teams to ensure designs are cost‑effective and construction‑ready.
- Review survey data, geotechnical reports, and environmental studies to inform design decisions.
- Conduct constructability reviews and implement design modifications in collaboration with construction partners.
- Provide construction support, including RFIs, plan updates, and field verification.
- Maintain and enhance design standards, templates, and QA/QC procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; EIT or PE preferred.
- 2–5+ years of civil design experience in utility‑scale solar, battery storage, land development, or large‑scale site/civil projects.
- Strong understanding of stormwater management (SWPPP, NPDES, drainage analysis, erosion control).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; GIS experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with hydrology and modeling tools such as HydroCAD, HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, TR‑55.
- Ability to interpret topographic data, survey files, and geotechnical reports.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and cross‑disciplinary coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful renewable energy projects, contribute to innovative civil engineering solutions, and grow within a high‑performing, collaborative team.
