Job summary

T-Mobile USA, Inc. seeks a Principal Engineer to lead, design, build, and deploy scalable software for highly available networks.

You will collaborate with engineers on components using system design, virtualization, software-defined networking, network functions virtualization, and big data. In this role, you’ll apply independent judgment to solve complex problems, drive design decisions, and deliver reliable, well-integrated solutions aligned with business goals and technical requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree + 7 years of related work experience or advanced degree + 5 years of related experience (Required)
• Engineering/Computer Science (Required)
• 7-10 years Technical engineering experience (Required)
• Telecom Billing Domain experience (Preferred)
• Hands-on development experience with C and C++ (Required)
• Analytical thinking, capacity planning, communication, feasibility studies, mentorship, network architecture, network design, systems engineering, technical writing, technology roadmap are required

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and validation of network systems to maximize reliability, performance, and cost efficiency
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and presentations to communicate design benefits
• Drive engineering projects by applying techniques, conducting tests, and supervising engineering teams
• Analyze and implement technology improvements to optimize network processes
• Monitor industry technologies and standards to inform design decisions
• Evaluate new and existing technologies to align with business goals and support network evolution
• Also responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business management as needed
