Job summary

Snowflake is seeking a Principal Software Engineer - Identity, Data Security and Trust to lead the technical strategy for Data Movement Policy and Exfiltration Protection. You will bridge policy and enforcement across multi-cloud environments, shaping scalable, low-latency perimeter controls.

You will mentor senior engineers, define design documents, and collaborate with Product Management to translate business goals into engineering milestones, while advancing privacy, security, and trust

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in a principal or architect role focusing on infrastructure or security.
• Deep understanding of network security protocols (TLS/SSL, HTTP/S, DNS), Zero Trust architectures, and DLP technologies.
• Proven track record designing and deploying high-scale distributed systems (Java, Go, or C++).
• Strong experience with cloud-native security controls in AWS, GCP, or Azure (e.g., VPC Service Controls, Private Link).
• AI tooling and models deployment to improve team productivity and execution.
• Excellent communication of complex concepts to executives and individual contributors.

Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of the Data Movement Policy (DMP) framework for multi-cloud environments.
• DXP Strategy: Define roadmap for Data Exfiltration Protection and intelligent anomaly detection for data egress.
• Policy Unification: Unify Context-Aware Access policies with egress controls into a cohesive policy engine.
• Design Specification: Author and review design documents ensuring reliability, low latency, and auditability.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Product Management to translate goals into engineering milestones.
• Mentorship: Guide senior/staff engineers across teams to promote security-first engineering.
