Job summary

Scribd, Inc. seeks a Principal Engineer to define how we build software as AI changes the work. You will own the technical vision for agentic engineering, deciding where to invest and setting direction alongside the CTO and engineering leadership.

You will shape standards for internal tools, libraries, and platforms used across the company, and mentor engineers to elevate the org. This role includes equity and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in software engineering, including senior leadership responsibilities.
• Experience applying AI to real software problems and driving adoption.
• Proven ability to mentor senior engineers and shape technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Decide architecture, patterns, and guardrails for engineers and coding agents across codebase, CI/CD, and infra.
• Set direction for internal tools, libraries, and platforms used by engineers.
• Partner with engineering leaders to turn ambiguous problems into initiatives and own delivery.
• Mentor staff and senior engineers and expand capabilities across engineering.
