Job summary

Scribd, Inc. is actively seeking a Principal Engineer to define how our software evolves as AI transforms our work. You will own the technical vision for agentic engineering, guiding hundreds of engineers writing and shipping code with coding agents across our stack.

You’ll set direction with CTO and leadership, shaping daily engineering practices company-wide. You will optimize developer experience, balance stability with speed, and drive measurable impact in tooling, platforms, and workflows.

Qualifications

10+ years in software engineering, including staff/principal level responsibilities.
Hands-on experience applying AI to real software problems.
Deep knowledge of agentic systems, runtimes, tools and evaluation methods.
Proven ability to drive organization-wide technical impact and mentoring of senior staff.
Significant time in developer experience, platform or infrastructure engineering.

Responsibilities

Define architecture, patterns, and guardrails for engineers and coding agents across codebase, CI/CD, and infra.
Set and standardize internal tools, libraries, and platforms used by engineers company-wide.
Partner with engineering leaders to turn ambiguous problems into initiatives and own delivery.
Mentor staff and senior engineers, helping teams maximize agent usage in daily workflows.
