Job summary

Scribd, Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer to define how we build software as AI changes the work. You will own the technical vision for agentic engineering, directing hundreds of engineers to collaborate with coding agents across our stack.

You will set standards for internal tools and platforms, partner with leaders to frame cross‑org problems into initiatives, and mentor engineers to raise the bar across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, including Staff or Principal level responsibilities.
• Hands‑on experience applying AI to real software problems, shipping agentic tooling.
• Deep understanding of agentic systems: runtimes, tool use, and evals.
• Proven ability to guide engineering teams and mentor senior staff.
• Significant background in developer experience, platforms, or infrastructure engineering.

Responsibilities

• Decide architecture, patterns, and guardrails for engineers and coding agents across codebase, CI/CD, and infra.
• Set direction for Scribd's internal tools, libraries, and platforms used company‑wide.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to frame ambiguous problems into initiatives and drive delivery.
• Mentor staff and senior engineers, elevate agent capabilities, and roll out new features across engineering.
