Job summary

JCW Group is working with a nuclear technology company to place a Principal Engineer leading radiation monitoring system design on a major reactor demonstration program. This role owns the instrumentation strategy for detecting and measuring radiation across plant systems, from concept through integration.

The successful candidate will lead instrumentation design, coordinate with I&C and other disciplines, and oversee supplier involvement through testing and startup phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear, Electrical, or related field required.
• 10+ years of experience in radiation detection or monitoring system design.
• Familiarity with nuclear QA standards (10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1) and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of radiation monitoring instrumentation and systems across plant coverage.
• Develop and review system specifications, design docs, and interfaces with I&C and other disciplines.
• Provide technical oversight of suppliers and support integration, testing, and startup.

Principal Engineer, Radiation Monitoring Systems

JCW Group is working with a nuclear technology company to place a Principal Engineer leading radiation monitoring system design on a major reactor demonstration program. This role owns the instrumentation strategy for detecting and measuring radiation across plant systems, from concept through integration.

You Will Be Required To:

• Lead design of radiation monitoring instrumentation and systems, specifying detectors, sensors, and measurement techniques for plant-wide coverage
• Develop and review system specifications, design documentation, and interface requirements with I&C and other disciplines
• Provide technical oversight of suppliers and support integration, testing, and startup of radiation monitoring equipment

Required Experience:

• B.S. in Nuclear, Electrical, or related field, with 10+ years of experience in radiation detection or monitoring system design
• Familiarity with nuclear QA standards (10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1) and applicable radiation detection codes/standards
• Experience with instrumentation for high-radiation or high-temperature environments a plus
