Job summary

Vertex in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership in power conditioning, drive electronics, and CAN‑based control architectures across ground industrial and vehicle systems. This growth role will define and standardize approaches for power conversion, battery charging, and energy storage.

You will lead electrical architecture for multi‑board systems, mentor engineers, influence proposals, and guide IRAD planning in power, drives, and networked

Qualifications

Power conditioning and conversion for ground industrial or vehicle systems.
Battery charger architectures and energy storage concepts.
CAN bus architectures (CAN 2.0, CAN FD) with diagnostics.
ECAD design and simulation tool proficiency for boards/subsystems.
Ability to lead design reviews and mentor engineers across levels.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical architecture for power conditioning and CAN-based subsystems.
Define system power architectures, including AC/DC and DC/DC conversion.
Architect battery charging and energy storage interfaces with protection.
Guide EMC/EMI and environmental qualification campaigns for power subsystems.
