Job summary

Vertiv in Austin, TX seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead design, test, and release of next-gen data center products. You will own complex HW development, guide cross-functional teams, and ensure robust electrical implementations for high-reliability systems.

Responsibilities include PCB design, validation, and orchestration across vendors, with a focus on Ethernet, I2C, CAN, and advanced power distribution. You will mentor engineers and drive quality throughout product lifecycles.

Qualifications

• BSEE or related degree from an accredited college or university.
• 10+ years in product development with increasing responsibilities.
• Proficiency with industry standard PCB design and simulation software.
• Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit theory, and signal integrity.
• Strong understanding of Ethernet, I2C, CAN, etc. protocols.
• Familiarity with ARM SOCs, CPLDs, PICs, ASICs, etc.
• Familiarity with IPC and ISO standards.
• Experience delivering IPC class 1 and class 2 boards.
• Proven ability to deliver quality products through all development phases.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design custom control hardware for data center cooling infrastructure.
• Design custom PCBs and transition designs into functional hardware with vendors.
• Design and/or implement PHYs and other communication hardware (Ethernet, CAN, I2C, Serial, BACnet, Modbus).
• Take new designs through production including testing, bring-up, and board spins.
• Collaborate across teams for design reviews, cost reductions, and problem solving.
• Develop solutions to complex problems where little precedence exists.
