Job summary

ERock in Houston is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead complex design efforts for distributed generation and microgrid projects, focusing on HV/MV/LV systems and grid interconnection.

The role requires deep power systems expertise, guiding senior and junior engineers, reviewing deliverables, and driving standards and best practices across protection, relaying, and studies; a PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering with power systems, distributed generation, and microgrids.
• PE license preferred; extensive HV/MV/LV design and protection experience.
• Experience with utility interconnection requirements and generation integration.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and IEEE standards; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and engineering for distributed generation and microgrid projects.
• Provide expert guidance across HV, MV, and LV systems and interconnection requirements.
• Develop strategies for generation-grid integration, power quality, and stability analyses.
• Design and optimize protection and control schemes and relay applications.
• Conduct power system studies: load flow, short circuit, arc flash, transient stability.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
• Review and approve deliverables: one-line diagrams, schematics, equipment specs, drawings.
• Incorporate new technologies, standards, and best practices in the department.
