Job summary

The National Association of Elementary School Principals is seeking a school principal to lead daily operations, manage budgets, shape policies, foster a safe learning environment, and collaborate with staff, students, and families. The role emphasizes instructional leadership and alignment with district strategic plans.

Responsibilities include supervising and evaluating staff, directing curriculum implementation, ensuring continuous improvement and implementing the school’s division-wide

Qualifications

• Must hold Virginia teaching certificate and Admin & Supervision PreK-12 endorsement.
• If VA Postgraduate Professional License is not held, reciprocal out-of-state certification with comparable endorsement required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, evaluates and provides instructional direction to staff to implement the total curriculum for the students.
• Organizes the school to provide an optimum learning environment for curricular and extracurricular programs.
• Assigns duties to assistant principals and key personnel to maintain daily operations.
• Manages funds to support school programs and objectives.
• Provides in-service programs to staff aligned with school and School Board goals.
• Maintains effective public relations and communications within the school and community.
• Evaluates staff to ensure competence in achieving education goals.
• Coordinates central office support for program development and services.
• Establishes and maintains effective school discipline.
• Provides extracurricular activities for all students.
• Manages operation and maintenance of building and grounds.
• Leads continuous improvement and budget planning with the school advisory council.
• Implements division-wide curriculum action plan at the local level.
