Job summary

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. in Batavia, IL, is seeking a Senior Environmental/Ecological Project Manager to lead local office operations and guide complex ecological projects.

The role combines field presence with national-level work on a large ecological team. The candidate will manage staff, develop work plans and proposals, monitor budgets, and ensure high-quality deliverables while maintaining client relationships and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of ecological experience including permitting and NEPA
• Experience leading teams and managing projects
• Strong knowledge of ecological laws and regulatory frameworks
• Field surveys, habitat assessments, and reporting
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors
• Proficiency in developing site work plans, proposals, and reports
• Willingness to travel locally and regionally as needed
• Maintains valid driver’s license and driving record

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily operations of local office
• Oversee ecological assessments, surveys, and impact studies
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to staff
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
• Develop and maintain client relationships and support BD
• Ensure regulatory compliance and best practices
• Collaborate on infrastructure and land-use projects
• Manage subcontractor and vendor procurement
