Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. seeks a Principal Environmental/Ecological Project Manager & Office Lead to guide our Batavia, IL operations and support regional ecological needs.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, project planning, budgeting, and reporting for complex ecological projects, including permitting and restoration. A strong candidate will mentor staff, manage field teams, and drive client engagements.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of ecological experience with permitting, restoration, and related disciplines.
• Experience leading teams and managing projects.
• Strong knowledge of ecological laws and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with field surveys, habitat assessments, and reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to learn state regulatory programs as needed.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must complete OSHA HAZWOPER training.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to strategic planning and growth of ecological services.
• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the local office.
• Oversee regional ecological assessments, surveys, and environmental impact studies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to staff.
• Ensure high-quality project delivery, on time and within budget.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and support business development.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, policies, and best practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure and land-use projects.
