Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Principal Software Engineer (DevSecOps) in California to drive cloud-based architecture, secure development, and automation across SDLC. You will collaborate with engineers to design, build, and deliver robust software solutions that meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or Physics, or an equivalent combination.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in software engineering, software automation, cloud architecture, DevSecOps, or a related field.
• Strong software engineering skills with proficiency in C/C++, Java, Golang, and/or Python, including data structures and OOP.
• Experience with build automation, CI/CD pipelines, or integrating automated testing and security checks into workflows is desirable.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL; Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Implements and optimizes algorithms and software, including REST endpoints, relational database schemas, and UI components.
• Supports testing, security validation, and demonstration of components and integrated systems; develops documentation and reports for customers and stakeholders.
• Resolves software build, deployment, and configuration issues as they arise.
• Creates software design documentation per process requirements and guidance from senior engineers.
• Writes and tests code according to standards and maintains unique tests.
