Job summary

AeroVironment seeks a Principal Software Engineer (DevSecOps) to design, develop, and deliver cloud-based software solutions with a focus on secure development practices and automation. You will work with a team of engineers and systems personnel to implement REST endpoints, databases, and UI components while adhering to coding standards.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to software design documentation, and help drive continuous improvement in build, test, and deployment processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in a related field.
• 5–8 years of relevant software engineering, automation, cloud architecture, or DevSecOps experience.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, Java, Golang, and/or Python with solid data-structure knowledge.
• Experience with software build automation, CI/CD pipelines, and integrating automated tests and security checks.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS).
• Familiarity with Scrum and working in cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Implements and optimizes software including REST endpoints, DB schemas, and UI components.
• Supports testing, security validation, and documentation; provides inputs for customer presentations.
• Resolves build, integration, deployment, and configuration issues.
• Creates software design documentation per process and guidance from senior engineers.
• Implements coding per standards and writes unit tests.
• Contributes to software quality, automation, and process improvements; meets schedule and budget.
• Collaborates with software developers, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams.
