Job summary

Medtronic in Minnesota seeks a Principal Software Engineer to advance DevOps and CI/CD tooling in embedded device software.

You will drive GitHub Enterprise migration, Copilot/AI tooling adoption, and collaboration with an AWS cloud team to deliver shared developer tools. Strong experience in CI/CD, AWS, and IaC is required; leadership and mentorship are essential as you guide teams through a major tooling transition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline and a minimum of 7 years of work experience, OR an advanced degree with 5 years of work experience.
• Experience developing GitHub Actions workflows and GitHub Enterprise org/repo configuration, and policy/security controls.
• Working knowledge of AWS and experience collaborating with a dedicated cloud platform team; infrastructure‑as‑code with Terraform or CloudFormation; scripting in Python; SVN integration/migration experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, improve, and upgrade firmware/software development tools and workflows.
• Lead migration and adoption efforts for GitHub Enterprise and AI‑assisted tooling.
• Partner with AWS cloud team to design, deliver, and support developer tools on AWS.
• Train the team on new tools and practices; troubleshoot issues with tools and workflows.
• Support legacy tools and ensure smooth transitions in a regulated environment.
• Influence tool-related decisions and organizational processes; apply basic project management.
