Job summary

Medtronic seeks a Principal Software Engineer to advance embedded/firmware tooling. You will lead GitHub Enterprise migrations, deploy Copilot/AI agents, and partner with an AWS cloud team to deliver robust developer tools. The role emphasizes training, troubleshooting, and governance in a regulated, safety-critical environment.

The position is based in Minnesota, on-site four days per week, with limited travel. A strong CI/CD background and experience migrating from SVN to Git are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 7+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Experience developing GitHub Actions workflows and configuring GitHub Enterprise.
• Familiar with Copilot products and AI-assisted coding tools; strong AWS collaboration experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, improve, and upgrade firmware/software development tools and workflows.
• Lead migration and adoption of GitHub Enterprise and AI tooling with AWS partner teams.
• Partner with central AWS cloud team to design and support developer tools on AWS.
• Train teams on new tools and practices and troubleshoot tool issues.
• Support legacy tools and migrate tooling from SVN or other systems.
• Influence tooling decisions and apply basic project management.
