Job summary

RTX in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Principal Design Engineer - Test to join the Test Solutions Engineering Center (TSEC). This hands-on role focuses on developing and maintaining electrical designs and test systems for weapon system products, leading cross-functional teams in a factory setting.

The candidate will drive hardware interconnects, schematic work, and device testing while collaborating with operations and program personnel to ensure readiness and robustness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
• 8+ years of electrical engineering design experience including troubleshooting, analysis and test.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and manage multiple engineering tasks concurrently.
• Lead small teams of Electrical Hardware design engineers for cabling, test chassis and test system solutions.
• Develop engineering and production test systems, test interface adapters, cabling, drawings, schematics and circuit designs.
• Lead troubleshooting of hardware and test equipment instrumentation in Factory Test Platform solutions.
• Collaborate with a multidiscipline engineering team and mentor staff.
• Engage with Engineering, Operations PTEs, and program personnel to support factory readiness and robustness.
• Assist in defining hardware and electrical product requirements.
