Job summary

Diesel Laptops Llc seeks a Principal Data Scientist, Vehicle Analytics, to translate vehicle telemetry, service history, and operational data into predictive insights and production-ready analytics. Lead problem framing, model development, and deployment with cross-functional teams in a hybrid US-based role.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in applied data science, strong statistics, and a track record of deploying production solutions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, CS, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in applied data science, ML, or quantitative research.
• Advanced proficiency with Python and SQL.
• Strong experience with Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and Jupyter.
• Experience developing and deploying production data-science or ML solutions.
• Ability to independently define methodology, evaluate tradeoffs, and lead complex initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complex business, vehicle, and engineering problems using exploratory data analysis, statistics, experimentation, and hypothesis testing.
• Design, validate, and improve statistical models, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and classification systems.
• Build production-ready analytical workflows and contextual tools in collaboration with Data Engineering and Software Engineering.
• Mentor data scientists, analysts, and engineers in statistics, experimentation, and model evaluation.
• Communicate findings to executives, customers, and stakeholders; ensure reproducibility and auditability.
