Job summary

Diesel Laptops LLC is seeking a Principal Data Scientist, Vehicle Analytics, to solve high-impact vehicle and engineering problems using statistics, experimentation, and applied data science. You will work with Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Product, and customer-facing teams to identify opportunities and deploy data-driven capabilities.

This senior role emphasizes choosing appropriate analytical methods over default ML use, with leadership in mentoring and guiding data initiatives

Qualifications

Master’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent professional experience.
7+ years in applied data science, statistics, ML, or quantitative research.
Experience solving complex problems with large time-series or high-volume data.
Strong proficiency with Python and SQL; deep knowledge of Pandas/NumPy/SciPy.

Responsibilities

Investigate complex business and vehicle problems using exploratory data analysis and hypothesis testing.
Develop statistical models, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and related solutions.
Build production-ready analytics workflows and data products with reliable pipelines.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Customer teams to define analytical opportunities.
Mentor junior staff and promote reproducibility, documentation, and best practices.
